of the Full Court of Appeal against the claim of Ho Lap Pun

The present request for compensation is
based on the agreement, of which a copy is with Messrs. Ewens
and Harston's letter of the 18th May, made by Ho Lap Pun
(and his father since dead) with Messrs. E. S. Kelly and
Ellis Kelly for these gentlemen to pay for prosecuting the
Chinese Claim and to have the land, if the claim were established, for $350,000. The claim has not been established and Messrs.
E. S. Kelly and Ellis Kelly ask for 'satisfactory and reasonable compensation' on account of their unsuccessful venture.
The items of expenditure they report in
their communication to you are

$3,500 on account of the purchase money and incurring
costs and expenses in connection with their purchase
1,750 for Architects' fees
3,000 for Solicitors and Counsel's fees

the last two items being stated to be approximate.
